To wash away Nascar.com for Sprint's homepage takeover, Goodby approached us about tackling some exciting effects.
The ad required the generation of realistic champagne that could burst from a celebratory bottle and interact with the site's contents - no small feat! Seeing an opportunity for practical effects, we leapt into action with 175 bottles of the finest sparkling wine, a sump pump and a garden hose. 1.2 gallons per second later, we were rocketing alcohol across the studio at finely tuned speeds.
Additionally, the ad called for a CG physics simulation of Nascar.com that could be disrupted according the motion in the final spray footage. Once rendered, the simulation and champagne footage were composited and optimized for integration into the Flash and the adkit. A companion synced roadblock unit was also developed to accompany the HPTO.
